The troubled career of New England Patriots wide receiver Josh Gordon could now be over. Gordon sent out a message on social media earlier on Thursday indicating that he was going to be away from the team as he looks to get right mentally.

Almost immediately after this message was sent to the masses, reports indicated that Gordon was on the verge of being suspended by the NFL for a fifth time due to another violation of the league’s substance abuse policy.

Said suspension is now seemingly official. Gordon has reportedly been placed on the Reserve/Commissioner Suspended list on an indefinite basis.

This is tragic in so many ways. Gordon has been working hard to remain sober off the field. He had seemingly turned it around since being traded from the Browns to the Patriots earlier in the season.

Gordon, 27, was suspended for the entire 2015 and 2016 seasons before being reinstated during the midway point of the 2017 campaign. Prior to that, he served suspensions in 2013 and 2014.
