After benching Jimmy Garoppolo just five starts into the regular season, the Las Vegas Raiders’ top priority this offseason will be finding a new franchise quarterback. Yet, we now have a lot more information about who may fit into the Raiders’ future best, now that Antonio Pierce has been hired as head coach, with Kliff Kingsbury brought on as offensive coordinator.
Both of these coaches have ties to first-round QB prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft, but with Las Vegas not selecting until 13th, the Raiders likely won’t have a chance to pick Caleb Williams or Jayden Daniels. Yet, there are other quarterbacks who one NFL insider views as potentially strong fits for the Raiders this offseason.

Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels too lofty, but Justin Fields trade could be just right for Las Vegas Raiders
Chances are, Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and Jayden Daniels will all be gone by the time the Las Vegas Raiders are on the clock in the 2024 NFL Draft. Obviously, Williams has ties to Kliff Kingsbury from their time together at USC, and Daniels and Antonio Pierce crossed paths at Arizona State. Yet, the Raiders may have to get more creative than rely on their coaching staff’s connections to former players.
Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer recently highlighted a few potential quarterback fits for the Raiders in 2024. In it, he states the obvious, that Williams and Daniels, while being good fits, likely wouldn’t be attainable for Las Vegas.
However, other players who could become available include Baker Mayfield, whom Kingsbury also worked with during his days coaching Texas Tech. But after leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the playoffs, Mayfield may not ever reach free agency.
Another name Breer noted as a potential fit in Kingsbury’s offense included Chicago’s Justin Fields, who is likely to become available once or if the Bears settle on drafting Williams. While Breer did mention Fields, he also stated that Kingsbury’s offense is so versatile that he can adapt it to a wide range of styles, depending on the QB the Raiders can acquire.
