NFL Draft prospect Jourdan Lewis facing domestic violence charges

Former University of Michigan All-American cornerback Jourdan Lewis is facing a domestic violence charge after an incident Wednesday morning, reports The Detroit News.

Lewis is accused of assaulting his former girlfriend, a 20-year old. Reportedly, she told officers that she was the victim of assault after an argument in a 911 call placed in the early hours of the morning.

Though Lewis is still presumed innocent, this incident will likely hurt his draft stock. Considered a mid-round pick, Lewis had two interceptions with Michigan last season, allowing just two catches for a completion percentage of 23.3 percent, per NFL.com.

For top NFL draft prospects, a situation like this can push them down a notch or two during the process. When it comes to a mid-tier prospect, teams are more likely to opt to save themselves from the potential PR nightmare that could come with drafting a player of Lewis’ ilk.
