New report details New York Knicks expected all-in trade offer for Joel Embiid

A new report claims reigning NBA MVP Joel Embiid is the top player on the New York Knicks trade wish list and they already have a potential offer ready to go if he becomes available.

There should be a lot of hope surrounding the Philadelphia 76ers heading into the start of the new season this week. However, with star guard James Harden unhappy and looking for an escape from the organization, there is a dark cloud of doom hovering over the franchise.

Harden was supposed to be the player to help Joel Embiid and the Sixers get out of their championship drought. But with him wanting out the organization is reportedly holding out for the most beneficial trade return so it can maintain its status as a title contender. However, that may be difficult considering Harden’s age and recent history.

If they can’t get back equal value, or show they have things set up to be a contender next season, there is a belief around the league that Embiid would be the next superstar to request a trade from his long-time team. If Embiid did take the step he has been resistant to take, the New York Knicks would be at the front of the line to acquire his elite services.

On Tuesday, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer looked at the Embiid situation and revealed some interesting rumors about New York’s serious interest in the six-time All-Star. Firstly, according to sources, “Knicks president of basketball operations Leon Rose has made obtaining Embiid, if he becomes available, his No. 1 priority.”

Pompey also revealed what the trade package the Knicks are reportedly willing to part with to land one of the top five players in the NBA today.

“The Knicks are willing to offer a package that includes three key players, with Julius Randle, R.J. Barrett, Evan Fournier, and Mitchell Robinson all available in exchange for Embiid, according to sources,” Pompey wrote. “A trio from that group would be paired with two or three first-round picks.”

The theoretical offer would certainly send some good players back to the 76ers and several valuable picks in the near future. Considering the salary going to Philly in this deal, the Knicks might need to take a less favorable contract back in the trade as well.
