The 2024 NFL Draft is rapidly approaching, but New York Giants fans still can’t agree on which direction they want their team to go in. One popular option is drafting the best receiver on the Giants’ draft board. Meanwhile, another collection of fans prefers to push Daniel Jones out by drafting a new franchise quarterback.

We may not know whether the Giants will stand pat and take a player with the sixth overall pick, but we do know GM Joe Schoen will add a player who’s expected to have a massive impact on the team’s future.

ESPN’s Jordan Raanan recently suggested that if the Giants do have plans on drafting a quarterback with their first pick, then LSU’s Jayden Daniels is “a name to keep an eye on.” Of course, this scenario depends on who their NFC East rival Washington Commanders select second overall, and right now, signs point to the pick being Daniels.

“When it comes to this year’s quarterbacks, Daniels is a name to keep an eye on, if he’s not among the top two picks with Williams. He is a player who is well-regarded within the organization and that multiple sources with connections to Schoen and Daboll believe would be an ideal fit in their offense. There is also interest in McCarthy, especially if he is available at No. 6.”

Even the thought of the Giants drafting another quarterback just one year after signing Jones to a four-year, $160 million contract is eye-opening, especially since they don’t have anything close to a No. 1 receiver on the roster. Yet, it is peak smokescreen season, and the Giants would only benefit from hyping up other quarterbacks in the hope of a top receiver falling to No. 6. Perhaps that’s all this is.
