This is undeniably positive news. New Jersey has been one of the hardest-hit states in the union during the COVID-19 pandemic, with a staggering 11,194 deaths being attributed to the coronavirus (per Johns Hopkins University). So the fact that football could be coming back this summer is welcome news, indeed.

There remains a potential sticking point, however. The NFLPA made it clear Tuesday that there has been no agreement between the union and the NFL about reopening.

That hasn’t stopped NFL owners and the league itself from maintaining a positive outlook about starting the season on time.
