New Jersey Devils sign backup goalie Scott Wedgewood to one-year deal

The New Jersey Devils re-signed backup goalkeeper Scott Wedgewood to a one-year, two-way contract on Tuesday.

According to the club, Wedgewood’s deal is worth $825,000 at the NHL level and $375,000 in the American Hockey League.

The 28-year-old Wedgewood went 3-8-3 with a 3.11 goals-against average and .900 save percentage in 16 games (15 starts) last season. He recorded two shutouts.

Wedgewood has played in 40 NHL games (36 starts) in two stints with the Devils (2015-16 season) and one with the Arizona Coyotes (2017-18). He is 10-18-8 with four shutouts, a 3.07 GAA and .902 save percentage.

Prior to last season, Wedgewood spent back-to-back campaigns in the AHL, playing for the Rochester Americans in 2018-19 and the Syracuse Crunch in 2019-20.
