Report: New England Patriots Close to Trading Ryan Mallett To The Houston Texans

With just a few hours until the NFL Draft officially kicks off, some teams are on the move. Reports are surfacing that two of those teams possibly involved in a trade are the New England Patriots and Houston Texans. It is being reported that the Patriots may trade backup quarterback Ryan Mallet to the Texans for one of their draft picks, edging the Patriots up higher in the draft.

Mallett at just 25 years old, was the third-round pick for the Patriots in the 2011 draft. He has virtually done zilch since being drafted by the Patriots, but he posted a total of 8,385 passing yards and 69 touchdowns during his college career.

Mallett would be a young quarterback addition to the Texans if this trade occurs, and could save them a draft pick for another needed position. The exact round draft pick the Texans would give up to the Patriots still remains to be determined.
