NC State coach Dave Doeren had his contract formally extended one year through the 2026 season on Thursday.

According to published reports, Doeren’s annual salary will increase from $3.5 million to $5 million.

The university said that the contract was approved by the NC State Board of Trustees and the UNC System Board of Governors over the past few days.

“Dave continues to provide tremendous leadership for NC State Football and elevate the standards for our program,” athletic director Boo Corrigan said in a news release. “We continue to see competitive growth, academic growth and there is great continuity among our entire staff. Dave and Sara are deeply invested in both the NC State and Raleigh communities and we’re excited for even greater days ahead.”

The 50-year-old Doeren has a 64-49 record in nine seasons with the Wolfpack. He has the second-most victories in school history behind Earle Edwards, who went 77-88-8 from 1954-70.

The Wolfpack went 9-3 last season and qualified for the Holiday Bowl but the game wasn’t played when UCLA withdrew on the day of the game, citing a COVID-19 outbreak.

NC State has won eight or more games five times during Doeren’s tenure. He is the lone coach in school history with three nine-win seasons.

According to the News & Observer, performance clauses call for Doeren to receive a $50,000 bonus for eight wins, $100,000 for nine, $150,000 for 10, $200,000 for 11 and $250,000 for 12 or more.

“NC State is home for my entire family and I’m so grateful to Chancellor (Randy) Woodson and Boo Corrigan for their support and commitment to Wolfpack Football,” Doeren said in the news release. “We continue to build something special in Raleigh and I’m so excited about the future.”

All 10 Wolfpack assistant coaches received new agreements, according to the school.
