While ESPN NBA insider Zach Lowe believes Luka Doncic is a basketball “genius,” he can’t take his constant complaining to referees anymore and called the Los Angeles Lakers star unwatchable.
The LA Lakers definitely do not regret their stunning trade from a year ago that landed them one of the best players in the NBA, Luka Doncic. In his first full season in Lala Land, the 26-year-old not only leads the Lakers in scoring, but his 32.5 points are tops in the league right now. He is also second in the NBA in three-point makes (3.6) and is third in assists (8.6).
Furthermore, the LA Lakers own a 34-23 record, which is six best in the conference. While that’s not where the LA Lakers would like to be at this point in the season, they are still in the early stages of building a proper team around their new top star. However, despite his play, the reputation that grew in Dallas is starting to become a fixture for the team’s games this season, and that is his constant complaining.
Doncic’s consistent harassing of NBA refs to get fouls is a common complaint about the six-time All-Star. And it seems to be getting worse as he gets older. It has gotten so bad of late that Zach Lowe has become exasperated with it and delivered a hilarious but fair rant about the Slovenian this week.

“The whining is at peak Dallas levels. It’s every f***ing play,” Lowe said in a new edition of The Zach Lowe Show. “Just play, man. Not everything is a foul. And, it’s almost like, are you playing to draw a foul or are you playing basketball?
“Are you playing one-on-one with the refs, or are you playing a game? It’s every single possession now, it’s completely out of control, it’s just unwatchable.”
While Lowe is exhausted with the constant complaining, he admitted he is more frustrated because it simply isn’t necessary, and that Doncic is a “basketball genius” who can “get any shot.” Unfortunately for him and other NBA fans, there are no signs that the LA Lakers star will give up his constant whining anytime soon.
