A new report pours cold water on rumors about a future Hall of Famer that the Golden State Warriors supposedly have on their trade wish list.
Despite some tough luck during the playoffs, the Warriors seemed like a real title contender heading into the 2025-26 season. They were a powerhouse in the second half after trading for Jimmy Butler, and now had a whole summer and camp to improve on that early chemistry. However, this season has been a major disappointment thus far.
With over a third of the campaign in the books, they head into the week with an underwhelming 16-15 record. It’s no wonder that they have been linked to various trade rumors over the last couple of weeks. The most prominent is a potential blockbuster deal for 10-time All-Star Anthony Davis. However, even if the team really wanted to make a deal, a new report suggests he isn’t going anywhere this season.
Anthony Davis Won’t Be Traded Until The Summer?

In a story late on Sunday, NBA insider Marc Stein claimed that there are some in the organization who first want to see No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg, Davis, and fellow NBA great Kyrie Irving on the floor together for a substantial amount of time before they really consider a trade. And that process might mean a deal waits until the summer.
“The Mavericks have yet to see Flagg, Davis, and Irving play together for one second, and I’m told that new Mavericks owner Patrick Dumont is certainly among those in the organization who would prefer to see how that trio looks before doing something else drastic,” Stein wrote.
“… Irving is expected back from knee surgery at some point in 2026. But it is not yet clear if that return will take place before the Feb. 5 deadline,” he added. “Like you hear so often with Milwaukee and Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future: Waiting until the offseason and the increased optionality that the summer typically provides might emerge as the preferred course.”
