While the Minnesota Timberwolves have been linked to a Ja Morant trade for weeks, a new rumor has offered up an interesting alternative if the team is looking for another proven veteran scorer.
The Timberwolves are finding out that the West is far tougher this season than it was the last two. The usual suspects in the Oklahoma City Thunder, Denver Nuggets, Houston Rockets, and Los Angeles Lakers are in the hunt for a top spot in the conference. However, the San Antonio Spurs and Phoenix Suns‘ return to relevance this season has made it far more difficult to be a top-six team.
With the Timberwolves currently sitting in the seventh spot of the conference, getting back to the West Finals for a third straight year is looking unlikely. It is why Minny has been linked to various trade rumors over the last month. One of them has linked the team to a trade for Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant.
While he would be a huge upgrade at the point guard spot, he also comes with concerns about his attitude and a lot of injury woes over the last three years. It is probably why the chatter about a trade has quieted in recent weeks.
Should MIN Timberwolves target a trade for Miles Bridges?

However, if the Wolves still want a 20-point scorer to sandwich between top stars Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle, an interesting option is available. According to The Athletic, the Charlotte Hornets are listening to offers on forward Miles Bridges. The outlet claims the Milwaukee Bucks, Golden State Warriors, and Phoenix Suns are among the teams pursuing a trade.
The report adds that “Draft capital is also a pivotal part of the conversation,” and they want at least one future first-round pick.
Bridges is a talented scorer who has averaged 20 or more points in three of his last four seasons. He would be doing it again in 2025-26 if not for the rise of talent rookie Kon Knueppel. The youngsters’ emergence is part of why Bridges is expendable.
The Timberwolves don’t own their first-rounders in 2027, 2029, and 2031. That would make a deal tough, unless the Hornets are willing to take Naz Reid or Jaden McDaniels back in a swap. Minnesota likes both big men, but they aren’t in title contention with them right now. It is a position of strength that Charlotte lacks and may be their best route to making a potential trade if they are interested in Bridges.
