San Antonio Spurs center Luke Kornet had a light-hearted moment ahead of Game 4 against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday, receiving blessings from nuns seated courtside. The interaction later drew hilarious reactions from Joe Johnson and Shannon Sharpe, who highlighted the moment during their podcast.

The legendary duo discussed the unusual exchange between Kornet and the nuns during Sunday’s episode of Night Cap. The pair made fun of Kornet’s courtside exchange with the nuns, with Johnson’s remarks referencing Kornet’s past grievances with the Atlanta Hawks’ “Magic City Night.”

“I see why Kornet was pissed off by the Magic City night he is hanging out with Nuns,” Johnson said.

“Guess what, they’re gonna be back in attendance for Game 6, they might even fly to Game 5,” Sharpe added.

In February, the franchise announced plans to pay homage to the city’s famous strip club during a game against the Orlando Magic on March 16, dubbing it ‘Magic City Night.’

Kornet, however, opposed the idea, penning an open letter to the NBA on Medium, calling the celebration derogatory and sexist.

Johnson revisited that stance while joking about Kornet’s courtside moment, where the former Boston Celtics center was seen interacting with three nuns at Frost Bank Arena ahead of the Western Conference finals clash.

Luke Kornet was also captured receiving a blessing from the group, who were reportedly from the San Antonio chapter of the Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco.

Although the moment drew widespread attention, Kornet will feel it worked in his favor, as the Spurs secured a 102–82 win over the Thunder to level the series at 2-2.
