The San Antonio Spurs made their first big move of the offseason in selecting guard Dylan Harper with the second overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. While a marquee signing or trade might not be coming, it appears the club is emerging as a threat for a top role player in NBA free agency.
According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, rival clubs are projecting the Spurs as a “team to watch” to land forward Guerschon Yabusele in free agency this summer.

Yabusele, a 6-foot-8 power forward, signed with Philadelphia last summer after excelling in the Summer Olympics with France’s national team. Before his breakout in the Paris Olympics, the 29-year-old primarily played overseas with Real Madrid and other clubs.
In his first NBA action since the 2018–19 season, he performed well in a rotation role. He averaged 27.1 minutes played in 70 contests (43 starts), and on a per-36-minute basis, he averaged 14.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per contest.

Signing with San Antonio would reunite Yabusele with his fellow countryman Victor Wembanyama. He could challenge Harrison Barnes for minutes at the four, while providing added depth to the Spurs’ frontcourt. While a signing isn’t imminent, the amount of buzz from inside the NBA connecting Yabusele to San Antonio suggests a deal could happen this summer.
