It looks like Timothee Chalamet, Ben Stiller, and Spike Lee won’t be the biggest New York Knicks celebrity fans at an upcoming NBA Finals game because President Donald Trump is expected to show up for one of the team’s championship matchups at Madison Square Garden next month.

Over the last month, the Knicks have brought a shocking amount of joy to sports fans in the Big Apple, and it is understandable why. The team has won 11 straight with an incredible amount of unselfish play, great shot-making, and stellar defense. They have performed at a historic level en route to their first trip to the NBA Finals since 1999.

Well, it looks like a long-time fan who holds the highest office in the land also wants to see the team in person next month. During a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Trump revealed that he has been invited to one of the Knicks’ NBA Finals games in New York by the team’s owner, Jim Dolan.

President Trump has been a NY Knicks fan for decades

“I think I’ll be going to one of the games,” Trump said when asked about his hometown’s favorite NBA team being in the Finals. “I was invited by numerous people, and Jim and I think I’ll be going.”

Trump attending sports events before he became an elected official and during his two terms as president is nothing new. He has attended the Super Bowl in recent years and quite a few UFC events. During the 1990s and 2000s, Trump could occasionally be found courtside at Knicks games.

However, the last time he allegedly visited MSG for a game in person was over a decade ago. The 2026 NBA Finals between the Knicks and San Antonio Spurs or Oklahoma City Thunder is set to begin on June 3.
