Don’t worry, New York Knicks fans, the team is expected to make sure both Mitchell Robinson and Landry Shamet are back next season.

On Monday night, the Knicks took a massive step closer to ending their over 50-year title drought when they punched their ticket to the NBA Finals with a dominant 130-93 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. It was the team’s 11th straight victory in these playoffs and the third time they closed out a series with a blowout win.

Certainly, the team’s starting five is getting a ton of credit for their success over the last month, and they completely deserve it. Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, Josh Hart, and Mikal Bridges have been playing an outstanding style of basketball. However, the Knicks are a serious title contender because of their depth.

Over their first three series, backup center Mitchell Robinson and guard Landry Shamet have played a big role off the bench. Bringing rim protection, elite offensive rebounding, and some huge three-point makes. Those standout performances come at a great time for both men because each is set to hit the open market this summer.

With the Knicks already over the first tax apron and closing in on the second, some believe they could lose both in free agency this offseason. Well, it seems rival executives don’t expect that to happen. “If they win the Finals, they’re not losing anybody,” an Eastern Conference exec told ESPN’s Tim Bontemps.

The NBA insider added that the expectation around the team is that both will return on two-year deals, and that the organization will go well past the second tax apron in 2026-27 and 2027-28 before they need to make some tough financial decisions before the 2028-29 season.

The news will certainly bring relief to Knicks fans because both Robinson and Shamet are vital parts of New York’s rotation.
