Ticket prices to see the New York Knicks in the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999 show that regular diehard fans won’t be in attendance for Games 3, 4, or 6 of the series.

On Monday night, the Knicks brought joy to their millions of fans when they punched their ticket to the NBA Finals with a dominant 130-93 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. It was the team’s 11th straight victory in these playoffs and has them on the verge of their first championship in over 50 years.

What has made this run stand out for basketball fans around the country is that they have quickly learned how passionate Knicks fans are. They invaded the home arenas of the Atlanta HawksPhiladelphia 76ers, and Cavaliers for each round of the playoffs. And videos of watch parties and wild celebrations outside Madison Square Garden have gone viral on social media.

Yet, it looks like many of those super passionate Knicks fans are sure to be priced out of getting tickets for the 2026 NBA Finals in MSG. According to third-party ticket platform Tick Pick, the current get-in price for Game 3 is $3,745 while seats for Game 4 are $3,464. That is the most expensive basic ticket ever for an NBA Finals game.

Get-in tickets are considered the cheapest on the ticket market. So if they are that high, one can only imagine what the prices are for seats on or near the court.

That seems like a shame because the true-blue Knicks fans who have been on the train since Day 1 are the noisest. Potentially taking that out of MSG for the Finals isn’t a good thing. However, that is the unfortunate nature of buying tickets in a world where there is rampant reselling. Especially for such a rare event in New York City.
