Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown drew criticism at the start of the offseason after he said this past season, in which the team suffered a first-round playoff exit, was his favorite in his career. The comments also raised questions about his future with Boston and his fit in the organization.

Addressing the speculation on CLNS Media’s Boston Sports Network, ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst said he’s heard nothing to suggest that either Brown or Derrick White are available for trade.

“I’m going to tell you I have not actually heard any material, true discussions. I’m certain maybe someone has called on Jaylen Brown maybe, but I have not heard one iota of Jaylen Brown truly being available or Derrick White being available,

Brian Windhorst on if the Boston Celtics will trade Jaylen Brown or Derrick White

Boston already dumped big salaries last summer, anticipating the team taking a massive step backward as Jayson Tatum recovered from an Achilles tear. Heading into this offseason, the team is committed to spending more than $145 million combined on Brown, Tatum and White.

White, who turns 32 in July, regressed a bit this past season. In his first three full seasons in Boston, he averaged .161 Win Shares per 48 Minutes. This past season, White’s WS48 fell to .129 and his effective Field Goal percentage dropped to 48.9 percent after sitting at 57.4 percent in the first three years.

  • Jaylen Brown stats (2025-26): 28.7 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 5.1 APG, 1.0 SPG, 47.7% FG, 2.0 3PM per game, 34.7% 3PT, .135 WS/48

Brown, on the other hand, is coming off a career-best season that earned him All-NBA Second-Team Honors and landed him sixth in MVP voting. However, his attitude coming off a disappointing season seemed to strike a nerve with many fans and some within the organization.

For now, though, it seems the Celtics front office remains committed to keeping its core together. While that could complicate the club’s ability to make meaningful changes, things could change quickly.
