A new NBA rumor is very positive news about a potential blockbuster Golden State Warriors trade for future Hall of Famer Anthony Davis.

We are just a few weeks from the 2026 NBA trade deadline, and the Warriors are sure to be active to improve a roster that has been a major disappointment this season. Heading into their current campaign, there was real hope they would be a top contender to get to the Finals. However, they own a mediocre 20-18 record as they begin the weekend.

The offensive side of the ball seems to be the big problem for the Warriors. The franchise known for being an elite scoring team is near the bottom 10 in the category this season. Yet, veteran stars Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler have stated publicly that they feel the team’s defense and grit are larger issues.

That is probably why they are reportedly interested in a trade for 10-time All-Star Anthony Davis. Despite being an injury waiting to happen the last couple of years, he is still a bit time star when healthy. His addition to the back end of their defense would give the Warriors one of the best in the league down the stretch.

There have been various rumors swirling around Davis recently, including that a trade isn’t likely. However, a new report on Friday made it seem like the Dallas Mavericks moving the big man before the Feb. 5 deadline is becoming more possible than previously thought.

“I think that based on what I’ve been told, based on what I’m hearing, AD’s agent is reading the situation and basically saying: ‘Hey, it’s in my client’s best interest to get traded before this deadline.’ So I do believe there is going to come a push from that side,” ESPN’s Tim MacMahon reports.

The NBA insider adds that players don’t want to uproot and move during the season, and the comfort of staying in Dallas the rest of the season would be preferred. However, reports have stated Davis will want an extension from the team he is traded to, and his agent is looking to get his client long-term stability while there seems to be solid value for him right now.
