LeBron James has been in headlines lately as his NBA future continued to be up for debate. Several teams, such as the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors, have been mentioned as potential destinations if he leaves the Los Angeles Lakers. However, the Memphis Grizzlies can likely be crossed off the list.

James made his YouTube golf debut with Bob Does Sports on Thursday afternoon and was asked about playing for the Grizzlies. Not only did the four-time NBA champion diss the idea, he called for the Grizzlies to move to Nashville instead.

“You think I want to do that [expletive] in Memphis on a random [expletive] Thursday?,” James said. “I’m not like the first guy to even talk about it in the NBA. We’re all like, ‘You guys have to move.’ Just go over to Nashville…Their only chance would have been 2003 if they would have won lottery and I might have pulled an Eli Manning and not showed up.”

James isn’t the first NBA player to mention the Grizzlies moving to Nashville. In March, Golden State forward Draymond Green called for the Grizzlies to relocate to Nashville, sparking conversations among fans about the possibility. In fact, the city hasn’t been mentioned as a possible expansion destination.

The NBA has circled Las Vegas and Seattle as two expansion destinations. Seattle lost the SuperSonics to Oklahoma City in 2008, while Las Vegas has never landed a professional NBA organization. The city has hosted the NBA Summer League and the NBA Cup in the past, so this isn’t a shocking development.

Nashville will likely need a current organization to relocate to the city instead. If it were up to James and Green, the Grizzlies would relocate from Memphis to Nashville.
