On Monday evening, the Chicago Bulls released guard Jaden Ivey following an Instagram live stream in which he made anti-LGBTQ comments.

Ivey had only been on the team for a little over a month following a trade from the Detroit Pistons. But now, it seems his NBA future may be in serious doubt in the wake of his recent comments.

While the move by the Bulls has seen the shooting guard get some support from unexpected quarters, Ivey didn’t appear too fearful about his future NBA prospects. In a subsequent live stream, he called out prominent league figures like Stephen Curry and LeBron James.

He then went live again on Tuesday morning and revealed how his family has been handling his recent controversial comments.

Jaden Ivey reveals family’s perception towards him after latest comments

According to Ivey, his family now think he’s losing his mind following his controversial comments.

“Those who are around me, those who are my family members betraying (me) because of what I spoke. The truth. Betraying me. Saying that I’m losing my mind. Saying that I’m crazy. Saying that I don’t know the truth,” said Ivey, per Joel Lorenzi of The Athletic.

“These are my own family members who love me. My blood. Those who raised me saying that I don’t know the truth. ‘Man, he’s psycho.’ He’s this, he’s that. Those are my own household. All because of the gospel. All because I said the truth.”

He also claimed that his wife is no longer texting him during another live session.

Jaden Ivey will receive full guaranteed salary despite being waived

Meanwhile, more details are coming into focus especially around Ivey’s salary. Per Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic, Ivey will still receive the full remaining portion of his $10.1 million salary for the 2025-26 season.

Usually, that was never guaranteed. Teams can attempt to recover salary in cases involving conduct detrimental to the team, but it’s understood the Chicago Bulls won’t be going this route.

But overall, this has certainly been an unexpected turn of events for the former lottery pick.
