Sports athletes have the potential to be some of the highest-paid people in the world. Yet, that’s only when you’re an elite athlete, such as LeBron James.
Still, even the average role player earns a salary of over $1 million per season, giving them more than enough money to live comfortably. Yet, for some, even raking in seven figures just isn’t enough.
That must have been the case for Marcus Morris, who prosecutors say stole over $250,000 from a pair of well-known Las Vegas casinos.
According to TMZ Sports, Morris received $115K from the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino via bad checks in May of 2024. He never paid that amount back once the checks bounced.
Then, roughly a month later in June, Morris was back at it, issuing a $150,000 check to the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. To no surprise, that one didn’t cash either.
Marcus is one of two Morris twins who enjoyed a long NBA career, the other being Markieff. Marcus, 35, played 13 seasons across the Los Angeles Clippers, Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets, New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers, and Cleveland Cavaliers.
Marcus earned over $106 million in his career, but that didn’t stop him from getting greedy and going after a bit more moola.
