A new rumor suggests a new team could soon join the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade sweepstakes and make an offer that other interested teams can’t come close to.

There is no bigger story in the NBA right now than what will happen with the Milwaukee Bucks legend. Since the summer, rumors have swirled that this could be the season when the two-time NBA MVP gets moved. Despite his best efforts to deny the possibility, an 18-28 start to the season finally pushed him over the edge, and he informed the team this week that he is ready for a change.

For months, the New York Knicks have been viewed as a serious contender because Antetokounmpo reportedly would like to play in Gotham. Furthermore, the Miami Heat have long been seen as another top contender because of their draft assets and the young players they can offer.

However, since the Bucks started listening to offers, the Golden State Warriors have emerged as a favorite because of their willingness to offer a boatload of draft picks, plus the Minnesota Timberwolves are also in the mix and believed to be a preferred landing spot of the nine-time All-Star.

BK Nets can make the best offer for Giannis Antetokounmpo?

Yet, they may no longer be the top four contenders. On a new edition of the Hoop Collective, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst explained why those four teams should be very worried about the Brooklyn Nets.

“Brooklyn has 10 tradable firsts, Michael Porter Jr., and 11 tradable firsts as of draft night,” Windhorst said.

The big question is, will the Nets actually get involved in the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade sweepstakes? The word around the team is that they are fully invested in their rebuild, and that ownership is no longer interested in making big swings for stars in trades or free agency. But Windhorst thinks the Bucks star will be the exception.

“I think Brooklyn will seriously consider making an offer,” he said.

On paper, a move to Brooklyn doesn’t seem appealing for the championship-hunting star. However, if he really wants to live and play in New York, it certainly gives the Nets a better chance of making a deal than they would have otherwise.
