A new report claims that Anthony Davis is not at all happy with the idea of being a member of the Washington Wizards.

A month ago, many NBA experts suggested this year’s trade deadline wasn’t going to deliver any headline-making deals. Boy, were they wrong because several multi-time All-Stars and future Hall of Famers ended up with new teams over the last few weeks. One of them was 10-time All-Star Anthony Davis.

The Dallas Mavericks trading the big man surprised many for two reasons. First, because he is expected to miss the rest of the season following surgery on his hand. Second, he went to the Wizards instead of one of the playoff contenders that were rumored to be interested in him.

While Davis and their other big pre-deadline addition, Trae Young, won’t make a difference this season, they will lead a greater plan for a big turnaround in 2026-27, along with Washington’s solid young core of talent. So, despite the Wizards being bottom dwellers the last few years, there is reason to expect them to be a playoff contender this time next year.

Anthony Davis is not happy about trade to Wizards

Well, that doesn’t seem to matter to Davis. According to sources that spoke to Sports Illustrated NBA insider Chris Mannix, Davis is not at all happy he was traded to the Wizards on Thursday.

Mannix explained that Washington’s timeline is for them to be a force in the East by the 2027-28 season. Which certainly isn’t appealing to a player hoping to compete for championships now. However, and maybe more importantly, the team also has no plans to give him an extension. Something he and his camp reportedly wanted from any club that traded for him.

It means if Davis wants a new deal, he is going to have to earn it next season. Davis has two years left on his current contract. The second year (2027-28) is a player option worth over $62 million.

Considering those factors, it wouldn’t be surprising if Anthony Davis requested a trade in the Summer. Which would be the third time he was traded over the last year and a half.
