Anthony Davis was plagued by injuries this season, appearing in only 20 games for the Dallas Mavericks. He was then traded to the Washington Wizards on Feb. 5, but was unable to play due to a left-hand injury.

However, despite issues with his durability on the court, Davis has shut down talk about a possible retirement and has instead revealed what he really intends to achieve playing in the NBA.

Speaking to Craig Melvin on the “Glass Half Full” show on TODAY, Davis opened up about his life and professional career so far. The one-time NBA champion still wants to accomplish a lot in the league, including earning more personal accolades and more rings.

Anthony Davis Reveals Grand Ambition To Join 20-Year Club

One of the chief goals that Anthony Davis wants to accomplish is being able to play for 20 years in the league.

“I haven’t got MVP,” Davis said. “I haven’t got Defensive Player of the Year. I want the parade for a championship, so I want to be able to do that again. … It’s still things I want to try to get. I want to get 20,000 points. I want to play 20 years.”

The power forward has just finished his 14th season in the NBA, which means he still has 6 years left if he wants to play 20. Davis is just 33, so he could play until he’s 39.

There are only 12 players in NBA history to appear in 20 seasons or more, including LeBron James, Vince Carter, Robert Parish, Kevin Willis, Kevin Garnett, Dirk Nowitzki, Chris Paul, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Kobe Bryant, Jamal Crawford, Udonis Haslem and Kyle Lowry.

Nonetheless, Anthony Davis has already accomplished much in his career. He’s a one-time NBA champion, a 10-time All-Star, a four-time All-NBA First Team Selection, a one-time NBA Cup winner and one of the 75 greatest players in NBA history. He also has an Olympic gold medal with Team USA and an NCAA championship.
