It’s not yet known when the NBA season will resume. The 2019-20 campaign has been suspended for the past six weeks due to the global COVID-19 pandemic plaguing the United States.
Previous suggestions were that the NBA could continue its season in Las Vegas. While that’s still in the cards, Shams Charania of The Athletic is reporting that the Association is considering Walt Disney World in Orlando as a potential destination for games.
Given that Florida is one of the hardest hits states as it relates to COVID-19 in North America, a lot would have to go into the planning. Certainly, fans would not be in attendance.
The idea of the NBA starting up any time soon seems far-fetched. It was just noted that the Association does not believe widespread testing will become available soon. Without that and a combination of tracing and antiviral testing, the NBA won’t be able to return.
It was just recently that Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr seemed to suggest that the 2019-20 NBA season will be canceled.
Though, Florida does make sense in that its economy is set to open on Monday. That includes restaurants and retail establishments. It’s one of a few states that has decided to open despite the fact that the COVID-19 curve has not been flattened in the United States.
