The 2022 NBA Draft will take place June 23 at the Barclays Center in New York, the league announced Tuesday, in a return to its usual timing before the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2021 draft was held July 29 because of the pandemic-era disruptions to the 2020-21 schedule. The NBA Finals concluded on July 20.

The home arena of the Brooklyn Nets has hosted every NBA draft since 2013 except for 2020, when the pandemic forced it to relocate to ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn., with most of the proceedings “virtual.”

The NBA also announced that its draft combine will be held May 16-22 in Chicago. The draft lottery will take place in Chicago May 17.

Gonzaga center Chet Holmgren, Duke forward Paolo Banchero and Auburn forward Jabari Smith are considered the top prospects of the 2022 draft class, with no certain favorite yet for the No. 1 overall pick.
