Major League Soccer is slated to begin its tournament at Walt Disney World in Orlando Wednesday after the season was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
But there’s proven to be a few major hiccups. We can now add this to the list.
Nashville SC could be forced from MLS tournament due to COVID-19 outbreak
The expansion club has seen five confirmed cases of the virus. Its opener against Chicago Fire FC has been postponed. MLS is looking into whether the club can even participate in the tournament.
This comes after another club had to pull out of the tournament.
Dallas FC is out of MLS is Back Tournament after a number of positive COVID cases
Not only could this have a major impact on the soccer tournament, it could be a prelude of things to come for the NBA. They are set to restart the 2019-20 campaign at the very same Walt Disney World location on July 30.
The NBA has seen a number of positive COVID-19 tests. They have also seen multiple teams shut down their facilities.
All of this speaks to the difficulties of continuing and resuming sports amid the ongoing pandemic.
As for MLS, its tournament is slated to start Wednesday and run through August 11.
