“I’m going to ‘Dega. We’re going to build some content around it on the YouTube channel that will cover it.”

And with that, Garrett ‘Cleetus McFarland’ Mitchell confirmed to Dale Earnhardt Jr. his intent to enter the ARCA Racing Series event at Talladega Superspeedway on April 26.

He also has a long-term goal to race in the Daytona 500 by 2027.

Driving a No. 30 for Rette Jones Racing, the automotive social media influencer was involved in two crashes during the season opener at Daytona over the weekend but generated an outsized impact on fan interest as well. His in-car camera aired on the NASCAR YouTube channel and had just short of million views.

He wants to try again.

“I’ve got the bug bad,” Mitchell said. “I’m fired up to go superspeedway racing. That’s badass. That might scratch my itch, or I might do good at Talladega and say screw it, I’m running the season.”

Earnhardt says he’s willing to help and make sure he’s spending his budget wisely.

“Unfortunately, I think for a lot of people to be involved in racing it comes with a cost that they have to share,” Earnhardt said. “They have to shoulder right for you to run that car you had to find the partners to invest in it and help you get there.

“But you can call Greg Biffle or you can now call me and go, ‘hey this is what they quoted me for that race, is that fair does that seem right’?”

Mitchell has befriended Biffle as they’ve made private helicopter supply runs together to Hurricane ravaged parts of the North Carolina mountains.
