With an increased chances of thunderstorms on Sunday, NASCAR has moved up the start time to the Daytona 500 (FOX) to 1:30 p.m. ET.
It seems increasingly inevitable that there will be some form of precipitation during the race and this decision was more about extending the window to complete the race at a reasonable time rather than avoiding it.
NASCAR also advised all of those attending to arrive earlier due to increased security measures. While not confirmed, it’s expected that the race will be attended by United States President Donald Trump and the facility will be swept by Secret Service overnight in advance.
The 2024 Daytona 500, won by William Byron, was moved to Monday after being rained out on Sunday.
