NASCAR has been bold when it comes to the schedules across all three divisions of the sport over the last few years. This includes the Clash at The Coliseum, the Chicago Street Course, and the returns of North Wilkesboro Speedway and the Milwaukee Mile.

The list goes on and it shows how NASCAR is adapting to a new era of racing. The sport even put dirt on Bristol Motor Speedway starting in 2021; however, it appears the venue could be wiped clean for a second concrete date in 2024.

With the schedule being a big conversation every single season after years of little change, the rumblings about 2024 have already begun. This includes a rumor that should excite NASCAR fans if this ends up being true.

Latest updates on NASCAR’s efforts toward the 2024 schedule

As said above, the 2024 schedule is already receiving some updates as it would be surprising to see Bristol Dirt back next year. Plus, Circuit of the Americas is not a guarantee to be on the schedule but it still seems likely for the sport to return.

NASCAR has been bold about the schedule and this includes several different areas. The sport will compete in its first street course this summer, North Wilkesboro makes its huge return, and more tracks are starting to make some noise.

Rockingham Speedway wants NASCAR to return and brief conversations have taken place about the possibility. Also, the sport is receiving interest internationally with one NASCAR owner pushing for an oval track outside of the United States.

The Athletic’s Jordan Bianchi jumped on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio and gave some updates about the 2024 schedule, including when it is expected to be released and more.

“I think the whole totality of the schedule we probably won’t know until late summer, early fall. I do think there’s going to be one big date on that schedule that is going to turn some eyes a little bit. I wouldn’t be shocked if we’re going international. I’m not saying it’s going to happen, I’m not reporting anything, I just know we’ve heard NASCAR say that that’s what they want to do…”

It is common for NASCAR to release the schedule in late summer or early fall so the timeline seems to be relatively the same as last year. The bigger news is that Bianchi believes there will be one date on the schedule that grabs everyone’s attention.

Could it be the return of Rockingham? Would North Wilkesboro shift from the All-Star Race to a points-paying event? There are so many opportunities but it does appear that NASCAR is giving fans and drivers a reason to be excited again.

As for the international races, it has been said several times that the sport wants to pursue it but the right opportunity needs to come along first. There is plenty to be excited about when it relates to the 2024 schedule and this only adds to the hype.
