The Seattle Mariners moved left-hander Robbie Ray to the 60-day injured list on Monday amid a series of transactions.

The Mariners also selected right-hander Ty Adcock from Double-A Arkansas. He will take the roster place of righty Penn Murfee, who was placed on the team’s 15-day IL because of an inflamed right elbow.

Ray will be out for the rest of this season after undergoing surgery on his elbow in early May to repair his left flexor tendon. He made just one start this season, struggling with his velocity over 3 1/3 innings on March 31 against the Cleveland Guardians and being placed on the injured list the next day.

Ray, 31, is in the second season of a five-year, $115 million deal with the Mariners. He signed as a free agent after winning the American League Cy Young Award in 2021 for the Toronto Blue Jays.

Murfee, 29, tossed a scoreless inning Sunday in his first relief outing since May 3 after missing over a month with similar right elbow swelling that kept him on the IL. He has gone 1-2 with a 1.29 ERA in 16 appearances this season, his second in the big leagues.

Adcock, 26, has never appeared in the majors after being drafted by Seattle in the eighth round in 2019. He owns a combined 1-0 mark with a 1.35 ERA and three saves in his 18 games this season spent between High-A Everett and Double-A Arkansas. He has struck out 22 with just three walks in 20 innings.
