The Chicago Fire are close to concluding a deal to acquire with midfielder Ousmane Doumbia, The Athletic reported Saturday.

Doumbia, 31, would join Chicago on loan for the rest of the season with a probable purchase option for 2024.

The Ivory Coast native currently plays for FC Lugano of the Swiss Super League. He has two goals — both for FC Lugano — in 100 Swiss appearances for FC Zurich and FC Lugano.

The MLS secondary transfer window opens on July 5.
