The Seattle Mariners made a magical run to the ALCS in 2025 but came up just short in Game 7 against the Toronto Blue Jays. Despite the strong performances down the stretch, Seattle understands it needs to make upgrades, and the bullpen seems to be a big priority.

According to The Seattle Times’ Adam Jude, the Mariners plan to add two relievers this offseason, with a left-handed pitcher as the biggest priority. During the postseason, the Mariners had strong pitching performances, but the bullpen started to struggle in the ALDS against the Detroit Tigers, particularly left-handed batter Kerry Carpenter.

The Mariners are considering Matt Strahm, Jojo Romero, Jose A. Ferrer, Tyler Rogers, and Hoby Milner, according to Jude. Strahm is the most notable player in the group after posting a 2.74 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in 2025. Four of the five relievers are left-handed pitchers, with Rogers as the exception.

If Seattle wants to make it back to the ALCS in 2026, the bullpen needs to be upgraded. The pitching meltdown starting in the ALDS was a significant reason why Toronto knocked out the Mariners. All five pitchers would help with that task, as Seattle looks to improve its team.
