Los Angeles Dodgers Unlikely to Land Kyle Tucker

In the weeks leading up to free agency, one of the most common MLB rumors centered on Kyle Tucker potentially signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers. While there may be interest in adding the perennial All-Star outfielder, it seems a deal is unlikely. Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported that although the Dodgers are expected to be in the mix, they probably will not be the highest bidder. Instead, Los Angeles is likely to focus on spending to address its bullpen, with Devin Williams and Edwin Diaz as two of their primary targets.

Edwin Diaz Addresses Potential Mets Return Amid Contract Rumors

The New York Mets want All-Star closer Edwin Díaz back and there’s mutual interest in a return. However, there’s a reason he opted out of his contract to test MLB free agency. Diaz told reporters that there’s a 50-50 chance he re-signs with New York, with the market heavily dictating that. It’s also worth noting that The Athletic‘s Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon reported that Diaz is seeking a contract siilar to the one he signed in 2022, which was a five-year deal worth $102 million.

Baltimore Orioles a Potential Threat to Sign Pete Alonso

While re-signing with the Mets is once again on the table for All-Star first baseman Pete Alonso, another scenario has emerged. Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports that the Baltimore Orioles are interested in adding Alonso’s bat to the lineup, joining several other suitors with hopes of poaching from from New York.
New York Yankees, Mets Could Get int Bidding for SP

Both the Mets and New York Yankees have made it pretty clear this winter that adding starting pitching is a priority. It could lead to a bidding war between the two rivals for Tatsuya Imai. The Japanese starting pitcher is coveted around the league, coming off an age-27 season where he posted a 1.92 ERA in 163.2 innings pitched. The New York Post’s Jon Heyman reports that the Mets and Yankees could get into a battle for him.
MLB Teams Eyeing Position Change for Bo Bichette

After returning from injury, Bo Bichette made the transition to second base in the World Series for the Toronto Blue Jays. It could be a change that sticks moving forward, depending on which club he signs with. MLB Network’s Jon Paul Morosi reported that several clubs are showing interest in Bichette as a second baseman or even third baseman. Notably, a return to Toronto is very much on the table.

Houston Astros Favored for All-Star SP

The Houston Astros haven’t splurged a ton in MLB free agency as of late, but that could change this winter. Jon Paul Morosi reported this week on MLB Network that the free-agency prediction that has the likeliest odds of coming to fruition is starting pitcher Dylan Cease signing with the Houston Astros. Cease would fill the void that will likely be left by Framber Valdez, who is drawing interest from the Blue Jays and several other clubs early this winter.

Latest on Market for Cody Bellinger

Cody Bellinger’s positional versatility and left-handed bat make him one of the most coveted players available in MLB free agency. The Yankees badly want him back, regardless of whether or not Trent Grisham accepts his qualifying offer. However, there will be strong competition for the All-Star slugger. Jon Heyman reported that the Mets are very interested in Bellinger. While the bidding war won’t be as costly as the Juan Soto battle, both New York clubs are making Bellinger a top priority.
