A new MLB rumor suggests that star free agents Cody Bellinger and Kyle Tucker will land with one of three teams, and it includes the New York Mets.
Heading into the offseason, while Philadelphia Phillies star Kyle Schwarber had a lot of fans around the game, Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker was seen as the best player on the free agent market. He is only 28 and is already a four-time All-Star. However, one-time NL MVP Cody Bellinger wasn’t far behind in interest.
A few years ago, the 30-year-old’s career might have been over as he looked like a shell of the player he once was. However, he battled back and has returned to an All-Star-level. It has earned him a ton of respect around the game. Plus, his versatility and ability to play high-level defense at multiple positions make him appealing to many teams.
However, it seems the market for both is very limited, because according to veteran MLB insider Barry M. Bloom, the pair of Scott Boras clients is seeking contracts in the $400 million range.
NY Mets in Race With Yankees and Dodgers for Bellinger and Tucker?

When a fan challenged Bloom’s report and joked, “Can’t wait for Bellinger to sign back with the Yankees for 2 years and $52 mil,” he offered up an interesting response that should excite frustrated NY Mets fans.
“That’s not happening. Yanks, Mets, and Dodgers are the market for Bellinger/Tucker. Once one signs, he will set the market for the other,” Bloom wrote. “Scott always starts high early in the market.”
Last week delivered a nightmare scenario for Mets fans. Going into the offseason, supporters of the club knew there was a possibility that All-Stars Edwin Diaz and Pete Alonso could walk in free agency. Yet, with having the richest owner in the sport, most assumed the front office would do what was necessary to hold on to a pair of core members of the roster.
Well, that didn’t happen, and Diaz took a record deal from the Los Angeles Dodgers, while Alonso took his talents down I-95 to the Baltimore Orioles for $155 million. The departures enraged fans. Landing either Bellinger or Tucker would go a long way in pacifying them after losing two core members of the roster.
