A notable MLB insider suggested on Wednesday that there are quite a few people around the game who fully expect the Los Angeles Dodgers to make some big splashes before tomorrow’s trade deadline. And it will include Athletics star closer Mason Miller.
We are closing in on Thursday’s MLB trade deadline, and the rumors are swirling fast. LA has the deepest roster in the sport. However, injuries and some surprisingly underwhelming play from several players has meant they are not nearly as dominant as many expected them to be in 2025.
That pursuit to constantly build and evolve their roster into an unstoppable force is why many around MLB fear what LA could do before the trade deadline.

“The Dodgers are kind of the Michael Myers, from Halloween, of Major League Baseball. They’re just lurking out there, ready to do something in the minds of every other team,” New York Post MLB insider Joel Sherman said in a new video post.
“I guess this is what happens when you take your payroll over $400 million. When you’re willing to pay $160 million, minimum, in luxury tax. More if they start doing things at this trade deadline. They have a deep farm system even after everything they’ve done over the last few years, and winning two recent championships,” he added.
Los Angeles Dodgers a favorite to land Steven Kwan and Mason Miller?

So if the Dodgers do make some big moves in the next 24 hours, who could they get? They have been linked to various players in recent days, specifically when it comes to outfielders and relievers. Well, Sherman claimed many in the game expect them to address both needs with two of the top names rumored to be available.
“I can’t tell you how many people told me they think the Dodgers will end up with [Mason] Miller, [Steven] Kwan, or some combination of both and a high-end reliever and bat for sure. They are just that kind of team now,” he said.
Miller has been linked to trade speculation since his breakout season last year. The MLB insider reports that his name has come up in trade discussions recently. But it will take a prospect ranked among the 25 best in the game as a featured part of a trade package to get him.
Kwan earned All-Star honors for the second straight season this summer. He has been a major bright spot for the Cleveland Guardians in 2025. And would be a big upgrade over Michael Conforto in left field. Another rumor on Wednesday, via MLB Network’s Jon Morosi, claimed his teammate and 2020 Cy Young winner, Shane Bieber, is also being targeted by LA.
