Kyle Schwarber is arguably the best player in MLB free agency this winter. Schwarber, who hit 56 home runs in 2025, has a very strong market with several teams interested in acquiring his services. However, the free agent player is also interested in joining a shocking MLB team for 2026 and beyond.
According to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, Schwarber seems to be interested in signing with the Cincinnati Reds this offseason. Obviously, the Reds would have to be competitive in the free-agent market for Schwarber, but it’s notable to hear that he has interest in moving to Cincinnati.
The 32-year-old player is from Middletown, Ohio, which is only two hours from Cincinnati. There aren’t many other options in MLB that would give Schwarber the possibility of playing close to home. Cincinnati should have the advantage on that front, but it needs more than a “hometown” feel.
The Philadelphia Phillies, New York Mets, Boston Red Sox, and more big-market organizations are interested in signing Schwarber in the next few weeks. Schwarber signing with Cincinnati might not happen due to its payroll; however, it wouldn’t be due to a lack of interest.
