Eugenio Suarez is one of the top free-agent third basemen available during the 2025 MLB offseason. Coming off a postseason run with the Seattle Mariners, Suarez figures to be a priority for teams that need a third baseman. However, a shocking MLB team might enter the sweepstakes for the 34-year-old player.

The Boston Red Sox have talked internally about signing Suarez and have held talks with his camp, as reported by the Boston Globe’s Alex Speier. As of now, the Red Sox’s top priority is adding a top hitter from MLB free agency, and Suarez would be an excellent fit for Fenway Park.

In 2025, Suarez hit 49 home runs and drove in 118 runs across his time with the Mariners and Arizona Diamondbacks. The free-agent third baseman earned his second nod to the MLB All-Star Game due to his fantastic power hitting. However, Suarez struggled to a .682 OPS after joining Seattle.

If Boston were to sign Suarez for the 2026 MLB season, he would bring enough power to reach 50 home runs in Fenway Park, which is a major improvement over Alex Bregman. While Bregman’s defense and leadership are better, Suarez would be an incredible power hitter for the Red Sox.
