A new Los Angeles Dodgers rumor is going to make New York Mets, Chicago Cubs, and Philadelphia Phillies fans very worried about their team’s chances of toppling the NL champs in 2026.
For the second straight year, the Dodgers are headed back to the World Series and look like a heavy favorite to win it all this month. Although they finished with the third-best record in the National League and fifth-best overall, the Dodgers have been a smashing machine in the 2025 MLB playoffs.
Their $350 million roster has turned it on in October after looking beatable in September and swept the Cincinnati Reds in the Wild Card. Crushed the Phillies in four NLDS games. Then smashed through the Milwaukee Brewers in just four games in the NLCS. Their stacked roster looks unbeatable. And it could get even better next season.
According to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman, “The Dodgers are expected to make a play for No. 1 free agent Kyle Tucker, who’d fit nicely into the National League’s best lineup.”

The former Houston Astros star and four-time All-Star is planning to test his value in MLB free agency this winter after playing for the Cubs in 2025. He is rumored to be looking for a 10-year deal worth around $400 million.
The idea of the Dodgers adding another massive contract is sure to drive teams throughout the league crazy. However, LA has shown no concerns about what their contemporaries think after giving out over a billion dollars in contracts over the last five years. Adding another one to the pile in an attempt to possibly go for a three or four-peat won’t bother the Dodgers, especially when they are printing money at Chavez Ravine.
Furthermore, there have been rumblings in recent weeks that the league could be headed to a lockout next December due to the spending of teams like the Dodgers, Mets, and Phillies. It could make them more aggressive to continue to add weapons before the next CBA prohibits such spending.
They will also have a great chance of landing Tucker, or any player they are interested in, because of how dominant they have been the last two years, and will continue to be the next few seasons.
