Mike Foltynewicz

After a lengthy absence to open the season, the Atlanta Braves are finally set to welcome back their ace. The Braves activated starting pitcher Mike Foltynewicz off the 10-day injured list on Saturday.

The return: Elbow soreness sidelined Foltynewicz early in spring training and raised potential concern for a long-term absence. Fortunately, he is now back in the rotation.

  • The 27-year-old posted a 2.85 ERA and 1.08 WHIP across 183 innings with the Braves in 2018.
  • Across four rehab starts in the minors, Foltynewicz struggled to the tune of a 6.11 ERA with 17 hits and 12 runs allowed in 17.2 innings

Foltynewicz return couldn’t come at a better time for Atlanta, who has been missing a front-line starting pitcher since the start of the season. It could be the boost needed to get the Braves back to the top of the N.L. East.
