When the Boston Red Sox suddenly traded Rafael Devers, many believed it was the first sign of many more trades to come. After all, trading one of your best players without getting a package based around MLB-ready talent typically doesn’t lead to an increase in the win column.

While the Red Sox have gone 9-9 since the Devers trade, which largely matches their overall 46-45 record this season, others around MLB expect Boston to make at least one other significant move before the July 31 trade deadline expires.

According to an anonymous American League baseball executive who spoke to The Athletic’s Jayson Stark, outfielder Jarren Duran is viewed as the “most likely” of the team’s outfielders to change teams this summer.

“I think they’re going to continue to do things that solve their long-term issues. So I think (Jarren) Duran is probably in play for a lot of teams. … I think he’s the most likely of those players in their outfield to change teams.”

Unnamed AL exec on Boston Red Sox

Duran is a former MVP finalist who’s made one All-Star team in his five-year MLB career with the Red Sox. He currently leads all of baseball with 10 triples this season while hitting .255 with an OPS of .728.

Even if he can’t help the Red Sox make a playoff push, Duran could help a large number of other teams this season. Yet, with Boston still just 2.5 games out of the AL Wild Card race, they may hold onto their trade chips a bit longer, hoping they can get hot at the right time.
