The Baltimore Orioles have been active ahead of the 2025 MLB Winter Meetings in Orlando. Baltimore has traded Grayson Rodriguez for Taylor Ward and signed Ryan Helsley as its new closer. However, the Orioles are far from done and are expected to be in the mix for some big-time players.
According to Jon Heyman on his latest Bleacher Report livestream, the Orioles are looking to do “big, big stuff” this offseason, whether it be a starting pitcher or position player. Baltimore has been linked to several big-name free agents after trading for Ward and signing Helsley.
Pete Alonso, Kyle Schwarber, Framber Valdez, Ranger Suarez, Tatsuya Imai, Michael King, and other players have been connected to Baltimore this winter. It is pretty clear the Orioles want to spend money and maximize their time with Gunnar Henderson and Adley Rustschman on the roster.
The Orioles need a pitcher more than a position player, but adding Schwarber or Alonso would put their lineup into an elite tier. The pitching might be a bigger need, but the lineup could use improvements to take it to the next level. Baltimore is ready to spend, and the AL East better be prepared to respond.
