The Baltimore Orioles are trying to mount a comeback, but time is running out. With 12 days until the 2025 MLB trade deadline, the Orioles sit last in the AL East with a 7.5-game deficit to the final Wild Card spot. So, what is the latest on Baltimore’s plan at the trade deadline? It doesn’t seem to be one full of confidence in 2025.

According to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman on Bleacher Report, the Orioles are “likely” to sell at the 2025 MLB trade deadline. Ryan O’Hearn, Cedric Mullins, Zach Eflin, Tomoyuki Sugano, Charlie Morton, Trevor Rogers, Felix Bautista, and several more relievers will likely be in trade discussions over the next two weeks. It doesn’t mean Baltimore plans on trading everyone, but some players aren’t likely to stay.

Specifically, O’Hearn could net a solid trade package after starting the 2025 All-Star Game,. The 31-year-old player is scheduled to become a free agent in the winter, so it would make sense to acquire an asset before he leaves. Eflin, Sugano, and Morton are the most realistic pitchers to be moved, as all will become free agents after the World Series, too.

Baltimore wants to compete in 2026, so this won’t be an all-out fire sale at the MLB trade deadline. However, the players set to become free agents should be gone unless the team has plans for them beyond 2025. The Orioles figure to be the most active seller over the next two weeks, and several players could be on the way out soon.
