An Arizona Diamondbacks fan has found himself at the center of umpire reviews for four consecutive seasons and is now banned for the season because of it. First pointed out by Jomboy Media, season-ticket holder Dave McCaskill’s latest incident occurred Monday during a game against the San Francisco Giants.
McCaskill interfered on a long fly ball to left field by Giants outfielder Christian Koss. He was initially ruled out due to fan interference, but after review, Koss was awarded a double when umpires determined Diamondbacks left fielder Tim Tawa wouldn’t have been able to make the catch against the wall.

McCaskill was ejected and the Diamondbacks won 4-2.
“If you look there’s been some other videos, I have been ejected (from my seat) three times officially,” McCaskill told Arizona Sports on Tuesday. “Two of those were so close to the line just like last night.
“If you watch the video, I catch the ball and my glove comes down. The angle of the camera, it wasn’t the best angle, but that’s my defense. But I apologize to the D-backs. I apologize to the D-backs fans. I would never interfere.”
McCaskill’s history with controversial plays dates back to 2022, when he reached over the wall for a ball against the Giants that was ruled an automatic double.
On May 6, 2023, a Lourdes Gurriel Jr. home run was upheld that McCaskill caught in a game against the Washington Nationals. In a July 28, 2024, game against Pittsburgh, a Eugenio Suarez home run was upheld when the Pirates thought McCaskill interfered.
“When this happens, the first thing I do is I turn and I start asking people, ‘Did I reach over?’ because that one I thought I was right down the line but obviously I leaned over,” McCaskill explained. “So, I was a little scared.
“When the security guards come down, yesterday for some reason there was eight security guards and sheriffs, half of them were laughing and patting me on the back. I went up the stairs and there was one guard that was not happy with me.”
The Diamondbacks didn’t find it to be a laughing matter, as they have banned McCaskill for the rest of the season, but he will have a chance to return in 2026.
McCaskill has held season tickets in the outfield for six years.
