In a season where so much went wrong for the Texas Rangers, first baseman Ronald Guzman made sure the team finally had something to celebrate on Thursday.

Facing the Boston Red Sox, Guzman made a play to help teammate Mike Minor achieve something special. In the ninth inning on a 1-1 count, Guzman let Chris Owings’ foul ball drop to the grass for the automatic strike to set up a 1-2 count.

Guzman immediately received some applause from his teammates and Minor struck out Owings on the next pitch for his 200th strikeout of the season. It’s the first 200-strikeout season in the 31-year-old’s eight seasons in the majors.

While the Rangers were able to celebrate the moment, the baseball world was quite divided over Guzman’s move to let the foul ball drop. While some saw the move as unprofessional, others thought it was a kind gesture by a great teammate.
