The latest MLB trade rumors tell us Noah Syndergaard is likely staying, and now it seems like the New York Mets will also keep closer Edwin Diaz.

Jon Heyman of MLB Network wrote the “belief now (not guaranteed) is Mets will hold onto Edwin Diaz.” Heyman noted that Diaz might need to rebuild his value first, meaning teams aren’t convinced his struggles this season are going to go away if he lands on a winning team.

Diaz certainly has gone the wrong way of late, at just the wrong time to facilitate a trade. He’s 0-4 with five blown saves and an 8.02 ERA since May 25 as the team’s closer.

Despite that, Mets manager Mickey Callaway said on Wednesday he hasn’t considered pulling Diaz from that role. Though, his logic for making that statement is a bit confusing.

Needless to say, it seems like Diaz is staying put, and that the Mets are going to end up one of the bigger losers when the MLB trade deadline passes.
