Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred opened up about recent allegations regarding the Houston Astros and sign-stealing from the 2017 season.
Needless to say, the league takes these allegations seriously. Manfred more than confirmed that on Tuesday.
As Manfred notes, there’s no timetable for findings as MLB conducts a “very active and really, really thorough” investigation.
The Major League Baseball head also said he doesn’t believe other teams were involved in the sign-stealing scandal.
Video evidence during the Astros’ run to the 2017 World Series title seems to back up claims that the organization was stealing signs.
At this point, the MLB investigation will focus a lot on who knew about the team allegedly breaking rules.
Once the investigation is completed, there’s a darn good chance stiff punishment will be handed down to both individuals and the organization as a whole. What Manfred said Tuesday does nothing to dispel this notion.
