Missouri QB Kelly Bryant carted off field with leg injury

Kelly Bryant and the Clemson Tigers dominated the ACC Championship Game on championship weekend

This is not how Clemson transfer Kelly Bryant wanted to start his first and only season with Missouri.

Bryant was carted off the field Tuesday with what appeared to be a lower-body injury during Tigers’ practice.

Missouri head coach Barry Odom attempted to downplay the significance of the injury, indicating that it was a mere hamstring strain, per Dave Matter of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

“Guys are banged up,” Odom said. “Kelly went down today for a little bit with a hamstring strain. Albert went down with a knee sprain. Those guys will be back. Jordan Elliott got dinged up a little bit. I hate it. That’s the worst part of this deal. But injuries are going to happen.”

Bryant was named Missouri’s starting quarterback a short while after he announced his decision to transfer back in December.

The senior posted a 16-2 record as Clemson’s starter in 2017 and 2018 before being replaced under center by Trevor Lawrence about a month into last season.

He had previously taken over the starting job from Deshaun Watson after the quarterback entered the NFL back in 2017.
