It was just last week that Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy drew the ire of fans the world over with his conservative play calling in a loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
Obviously on the hot seat heading into Sunday night’s game against the division-rival Minnesota Vikings, McCarthy didn’t do himself any favors.
With the game tied at 14 and just over three minutes remaining in the second quarter, McCarthy decided to punt from Minnesota’s 41-yard line rather than give former MVP Aaron Rodgers an opportunity to convert a fourth-and-4 opportunity.
It goes without saying that people in the social media world let McCarthy have it after yet another conservative call.
Mike McCarthy is so soft. 4th and 4 at the 40 and you have Aaron Rodgers. GO FOR IT. That’s the difference between the Rams and the Packers right there.

You have the best QB in the world and you don’t give him a shot on 4th and 4. Why is McCarthy still employed? #Packers

Well that one drive when McCarthy looked like a capable head coach was fun.

Wow. Just go for it dude. Let Rodgers throw the ball

4th and 4 on the opponents 41 in a must-win season saving game.
Every Coach in the NFL: Go for it.

Coach McCarthy made a tough decision to punt last week.
SNF Predictive Analytics shows that going for it may have been a better call. (h/t @PFF) pic.twitter.com/IhbAXOZrlT
